JOHN STEVENS COLUMN:
All In The Mind? Not Really
(31 October 2003)
I have recently been re-reading a report which appeared in one of the specialist motorsport magazines - a couple of years ago now, but still very much in the current era - about "programming" racing drivers to perform better, with particular reference to Formula 1. It has been very interesting to compare this report with my own views on race coaching.
Effectively, though perhaps accidentally, the author seems to be saying here that the best way of improving your technique in a sport is to acquire the services of a professional coach. On this point I agree with him wholeheartedly.
