Daewoo Cuts Parts
Prices - And More

(26 Oct 04)

Preparing at the start of next year to re-brand itself as Chevrolet, GM Daewoo UK has set up a programme to reduce the prices of genuine parts (while sticking a corporate finger in the eye of suppliers of spurious parts) and cover them all with a two-year warranty.

It's aware that there are something like 200,000 Daewoo cars in the UK, many of them being serviced by independent garages, which will now be able to source parts from the official retailers.

Under the new scheme, prices are reduced across the board, by 5% on brake drums, 35% on body panels and crash repair components, and as much as 91% on pollen filters. The average cut is something like 34%.

There's also a new range of remanufactured engines - that, of course, is the stage above reconditioning - priced between £650 for an 800cc Matiz unit to £1200 for a two-litre as used in the Nubira and Leganza.
