| Phil Hill Honoured At Goodwood | ||
|
(Tue 22 Aug 06)
Tributes to Hill are scheduled to take place around lunchtime of each of the three days of the meeting. Cars from his past which are also due to appear at Goodwood include a Ferrari 750 Monza, a Ferrari 250 GTO, the Aston Martin Project 215, an OSCA MT4 and the MG TC with which he began racing at home in California. Perhaps most excitingly of all, the Goodwood meeting will feature the phenomenal Chaparral-Chevrolet 2F which Hill drove to victory in the 1967 BOAC 500 race at Brands Hatch. Ingenious as it was - indeed, as all of Jim Hall's Chaparral racers were - the 2F was not very successful; apart from the that one victory, it did not finish another race during its competitive career. Its appearance at Goodwood is understood to be the first time it has run on a UK circuit since that Brands Hatch meeting.
