Musical Chevrolets

(Wed 20 Dec 06)

A medley of Christmas tunes has been recorded by the brass section of the London Symphony Orchestra and . . . five Chevrolets.

Five Chevrolets And LSO.

Michael Francis has directed a group called Car-mony. including various brass instruments, a Chevrolet Matiz, a Kalos, two Lacettis and a Tacuma - in a recording which rejoices in the name Honk-a-Tonk Christmas, and includes excerpts from We Wish You A Merry Christmas, Away In A Manger and O Come, All Ye Faithful.

"Our musicians are more used to playing the likes of Beethoven and Mozart," says LSO spokesman Patrick Harrild, "so Car-mony has been an exciting challenge for us to bring some Christmas cheer in the most entertaining way possible."

Honk-a-Tonk Christmas isn't on sale in the shops, but it can be downloaded from www.chevrolet.co.uk. Chevrolet says that if there is enough interest the medley may be released as a single.

Trivia note: Chevrolet also says that the LSO "has never before used cars to perform its repertoire", but it has performed and recorded George Gershwin's An American In Paris, which includes car horns. Not usually still attached to the cars, though.
