On the back of its motorsport success in 2005, when it won the FIA GT Manufacturers Cup, Maserati has launched a celebratory special edition version of the GranSport. The Maserati GranSport MC Victory will be unveiled later this month at the Geneva Show and will go on sale in May, though you'll have to be quick to get hold of one because only 180 are going to be built.

The most obvious clue that this is no ordinary GranSport is the larger-than-standard front splitter, which Maserati assures us increases downforce at high speeds. Further exterior modifications include extended side skirts and a small rear spoiler, which are also intended to improve the aerodynamic performance, and an Italian flag recessed into the front wings, which isn't.

Inside, the pieces of trim which are already made of carbonfibre in the standard GranSport are coloured blue. Leather and alcantara are used for the upper dashboard, door panels, steering wheel and the centre sections of the seats, which are themselves made of carbonfibre to reduce weight.
