Star Wars Rolls-Royce

(Mon 10 Jul 06)

A Rolls-Royce which was once owned by the man who played R2D2 is one of the lots at the next H&H auction in Buxton on July 25/26. Kenny Baker is a very experienced actor with many roles to his credit, and for most of his career he has portrayed dwarves, since he is himself just 3 feet 8 inches tall.

His most famous role, though, is the one in which he's not actually seen in person - that of the quaint but unintelligible robot in the Star Wars films.

Baker is the only actor to have performed in all six films in the series, and to judge by his former Rolls-Royce he hasn't done badly out of it. It's a 1982 Corniche Mulliner Park Ward Coupé, and despite its advanced age it still has just 63,000 miles on the clock. H&H expects it to fetch somewhere between £11,000 and £13,000.
