(Thu 13 Jul 06) The one-millionth Ford Focus sold in the UK will be presented to its new owner by Ford of Britain Chairman Roelant de Waard next Tuesday. The handover will take place at the British International Motor Show, and by a spooky coincidence the car just happens to be an eco-friendly flexi-fuel version which can run on either petrol or bioethanol.
"Ford has developed a real winner with the Focus," says de Waard. "Top of the bestsellers list for eight years proves its amazing popularity with British motorists. The Ford Focus was first with a flexible fuel vehicle in its range. I'm delighted we have found another Ford Focus FFV customer who will be joining us on Motor Show press day." Visitors to the Show will be able to find out a lot about the whole FFV story, and to view the new Focus Coupé-Cabriolet which is making its UK debut. A wide variety of other Ford models will also be present. To mark the millionth UK Focus sale, Ford has come up with a whole heap of information about the car. Here goes. British buyers prefer their Focuses in blue (33%) or silver (31%). Only 5% are red, and most of them are bought by Ford employees. Why should this be? No time, no time, too many statistics to impart. More grey Focuses are bought in Leicester than anywhere else, yet Leicester is also one of the hot spots for blue car sales, along with Hounslow and Uxbridge. The most popular body style is the five-door hatchback, which accounts for 32% of sales. Next up are the C-MAX (27.5%), three-door hatch (20%), estate (14.5%) and four-door saloon (6% - but it sells better elsewhere). There. Hope you were taking notes, because there will be a short quiz next period. 07/07/06 News: Ford Leads Manufacturers Previous: MINI Tops For Resale Value Next: Oil For Trackdays |
