| Volvo Reveals New C30 | ||

(Tue 12 Sep 06) The Volvo C30 SportsCoupé will make its world debut at the Paris Show on September 30, several months after the concept on which it's based was revealed. The concept, also called C30, appeared on Volvo's stand at the Detroit Show in January, and many of that car's design features have been transferred to the production version.
"We are broadening our model programme to make it possible for new, younger customers with a busy lifestyle to choose a Volvo with the right appeal as early as possible," says CEO Fredrik Arp, sounding very conscious that his company is probably one of the last to be considered by affluent young motorists. The C30 may well change that, but it's up against tough opposition, since Volvo quotes the Audi A3 and the BMW 1-Series as direct rivals. There will, though, be a wide range of engines - and presumably prices - since the entry-level car uses a 99bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine while the range-topper gets the 217bhp T5 turbo. Four- and five-cylinder turbo diesels will also be available.
Full details will be released later this month, and UK dealers are expected to receive their first deliveries at the turn of the year. More Volvo C30 Photos More Paris Motor Show News |
