Fake BMW E-mails

(Wed 25 Apr 07)

BMW UK is urging people not to be fooled by an e-mail scam being perpetrated in its name.

Messages entitled "International Awareness Promotion Department of the BMW Automobile Company" are nothing to do with BMW, and nor does any other e-mail which offers cars or cash prizes as part of free prize draws.

"We are aware that there are a number of similar e-mails in circulation," says BMW National Customer Service Manager Richard Price, "and we are currently investigating how to prevent those responsible from using BMW's name in such a way. We advise anyone who receives the e-mail not to enter into correspondence with the sender."
