(Wed 29 Aug 07) Dodge will reveal its new family car during the Frankfurt Show in September. The Journey is described as combining "the space and practicality of an MPV with the style of an SUV and the ride, handling and fuel efficiency of a family saloon".
It's based on the platform of the recently-introduced Avenger, but there's an extra five inches or so between the front and rear wheels to allow for a 5+2 seating layout. Two-litre turbo diesel and 2.4-litre petrol engines will be available with a choice of manual or automatic transmission, but despite the slightly 4x4 look of the thing the Journey will actually drive through the front wheels only. Chrysler Group says that the Journey will replace the Chrysler Voyager in its range, though a new Grand Voyager will also make its debut at Frankfurt. The Journey will go on sale in the UK next summer, and prices will be confirmed nearer the time. |
