(Tue 05 Jun 07) After its earlier teaser campaign, Renault has given full details of the new Laguna.
As normal with cars in this class (and indeed most classes), the new model is larger than the old, being 36mm wider, 10mm longer and 12mm taller. But it's also, on average, 15kg lighter, in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. As with the current car, there will be hatchback and Sport Tourer estate body styles, the latter featuring what are described as "numerous new storage innovations" and rear seats which fold to give a flat load area. The engine range sounds familiar. From launch there will be two petrol engines - a naturally-aspirated 140bhp two-litre and a turbocharged 170bhp version - along with a 110bhp 1.5-litre dCi turbo diesel (with combined fuel economy of 55.4mpg) and two-litre diesels producing 130bhp, 150bhp and 175bhp.
The new Laguna will be formally unveiled at the Frankfurt Show in September, and will go on sale in the UK on October 12. Prices will be announced nearer the time. Renault Gallery Previous: Peugeot 107 Special Edition Next: Monster Volkswagen Golf In UK |
