(Tue 12 Jun 07) Like so many other manufacturers, Suzuki has identified Russia as a major growth market. The Japanese company has confirmed that it will build a €90 million, 243,000 square metre factory in the Shushary industrial zone of St Petersburg. Production of the SX4 and Grand Vitara will start in the second half of 2009. Suzuki's target for the first year of production is 5000 units, eventually rising to 30,000. That implies the hope of a big advance in sales - last year, Suzuki's 30 Russian dealers shifted just 16,000 vehicles.
