(Mon 18 Jun 07) Mazda's display at Goodwood is largely based on the concept of the rotary engine.
It's 40 years since Mazda put on sale the world's first twin-rotor car, the Cosmo Sport. As part of the celebrations, the company has created an Anniversary Concept version of the current RX-8 four-door coupé, which has uprated suspension along with various styling goodies, and this car will feature at next weekend's Festival of Speed. A more technically-minded concept, the RX-8, will also be on display, as will a replica of the 1991 Mazda 787B (below), which remains the only rotary-engined car ever to win the Le Mans 24 Hour race.
Some of the Mazdas on show at Goodwood will have regular piston engines - the CX-7 sports crossover and the new Mazda2, both of which will go on sale in the UK in September this year. Mazda Gallery |
