(Thu 21 Jun 07) Jaguar will be have an incredible display at this weekend's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Several historic race cars are included, such as the XJR-9 (pictured above) which won the 1988 Le Mans 24 Hour race. The 50th anniversary of Jaguar's 1-2-3-4-6 finish will be celebrated by the presence of a D-Type, and Goodwood visitors will also have the chance to see and hear the beautiful XJ13 sports car which unfortunately never went into production. Perhaps the hardest-working Jaguar ever is the XK120 which became known as the Seven Days And Seven Nights Car (pictured below). Stirling Moss, Bert Hadley, Jack Fairman and Leslie Johnson set several endurance world records in this car at the Montlhéry circuit in France, and achieved an average of just over 100mph for an entire week, covering 16,851 miles.
Like the other cars mentioned, the XK120 will be seen in action on the Goodwood hillclimb. So will a current XKR, driven by Jaguar Driving Dynamics expert Mike Cross, and the modified PalmerSport version which was the subject of a recent feature .
