New Look For Jaguar XJ

(Fri 02 Mar 07)

The Jaguar XJ, criticised in many quarters for its "traditional" appearance, is being given a facelift for the 2008 model year.

All models get a new front bumper, upper and lower mesh grilles and Jaguar Growler badge, along with lower body sills, a subtle rear spoiler and side air vents similar to those found on the XK sports car. Above the vents are revised door mirrors with integral indicator lights.

The alloy wheels are new too, and Sovereign and Executive models now come with 19" rims. The supercharged XJR's air vents are finished in aluminium, and it also has black brake calipers.

Six new colours - Emerald Fire, Pearl Grey, Crystal Blue, Botanical Green, Vapour Grey and Azure Blue - are available across the range.

Inside, the front seats are heated (and optionally air-cooled in Executive, Sovereign and Sport Premium models). They have also been redesigned to provide extra support and comfort for their occupants, and extra legroom for those sitting in the back.

The XJ Executive gets a heated windscreen as standard, while all versions are fitted with an upgraded Bluetooth connectivity system which allows the use of up to five approved mobile phones through the in-car phone system.

In the revised line-up, which includes just four trim levels, the XJ Executive is available with the three-litre petrol and 2.7-litre turbo diesel engines. The Sovereign gets those too, plus the naturally-aspirated 4.2-litre V8, while the Sport Premium uses the turbo diesel only. The supercharged version of the 4.2 V8 is exclusive to the XJR.

Prices range from £43,540 for the 3.0 Executive to £60,150 for the XJR. 2008 model year cars will be available to order within the next few weeks.
