(Tue 15 May 07) A new small passenger car known as both the Vauxhall Agila and the Suzuki Splash will go on sale in spring 2008.
The new model is short, for manoeuvrability in urban situations, but tall, for visibility, airiness and space. There are five seats, and when those in the back row are folded down there's 1150 litres' worth of luggage space and a completely flat loading area. Regardless of the badge, the Agila/Splash will come with a choice of two petrol engines developed by Suzuki - a one-litre three-cylinder producing a maximum of 65bhp, and an 86bhp 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit. The 75bhp 1.3-litre turbo diesel co-developed by GM and Fiat - and in this case built under licence at Suzuki's factory in India - will also be available. Five-speed manual transmission is the norm, though the 1.2 can be specified with an automatic gearbox. The official preview of the new car will be at the Frankfurt Show in September. UK prices will be announced after that. Suzuki Gallery |
