| Sending Nissans To Japan | ||

(Thu 17 May 07) Nissan's factory in Sunderland is now exporting two models to the Japanese company's home market. The Sunderland-built Qashqai has been heading east since March this year, and it has now been joined by the Micra C+C. Customers in Japan have been buying the Micra in hatchback form since 2002, but they have never had access to the C+C before. That's because it isn't built over there. Sunderland is the only plant to produce the C+C - German specialist company Karmann manufactures the folding roof module next to the production line, a set-up which is not found at any other Nissan facility.
