(Thu 01 Nov 07) The sale of Chrysler to US company Ceberus Capital Management has started to have its effect on operations within the UK.
Until now, DaimlerChrysler AG has been the parent company of Milton Keynes-based DaimlerChrysler UK. The German firm has now renamed itself Daimler AG, and as of today a new operation called Mercedes-Benz UK Limited will look after the British interests of Mercedes-Benz cars and commercials, smart, Maybach and Mitsubishi Fuso. The retail subsidiary is now called Mercedes-Benz Retail Group UK Limited. More changes are due next April. DaimlerChrysler Financial Services UK will become Mercedes-Benz Financial Services UK Limited, while DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management and DaimlerChrysler Insurance Services will be called "Daimler" in each case. Meanwhile, Chrysler activities will be served by the new Chrysler UK Limited. Despite all this commotion, though, the same employees will continue to work in the same offices as they did before the split.
