(Thu 01 Nov 07) The driving programme based around the circuit-only FXX supercar has been extended for another two years to the end of 2009.
There will be six track events (not races) held each year at venues in North America, Europe and Asia, plus appearances at the end-of-season Ferrari World Finals. The cars themselves have been developed since their introduction in 2005. Power output from the 6.2-litre V12 engine has increased to 860bhp, the rev limit has been raised by 1000rpm, the gearchange time has fallen from 0.08 seconds to 0.06 seconds, new Brembo brakes have been fitted, the aerodynamics have been revised and the suspension has been tweaked.
The result of all that is that the FXX can now complete a lap of Ferrari's Fiorano test track in 1m 16 seconds, two seconds under the previous record. |
