(Tue 25 Sep 07) Citroen has launched a new diesel hot hatch version of the C2. It uses the 110bhp 1.6-litre HDi engine found in ever so many Citroens (and indeed Peugeots) and is only rarely thought of as a performance unit, though it gives the lightweight C2 a fair turn of speed.
The actual numbers are 0-62mph in 9.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 120mph. The combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures look good too, at 64mpg and 119g/km respectively; the latter means that the C2 falls into Vehicle Excise Duty Band B, and will probably be exempt from London's congestion charge in the near future. The C2 1.6 HDi VTS comes with the same standard equipment as its petrol equivalent, including air-conditioning, ABS, EBD, ESP, four airbags, an alarm and 16 Cheetah alloy wheels. The official list price is £13,400, but for the rest of September it's available for £10,995 thanks to a cashback offer. Also this month, there's a free insurance offer for drivers aged 25 or over; dealers will have more details about that. |
