| Power Tool Drag Racing Returns | ||

(Fri 04 Apr 08) Following the success of last year's inaugural event, a second Silverline Power Tool Drag Race event will be held at the Haynes International Motor Museum in Somerset on August 10.
The basic idea is simple - a race down a 75ft track for specially-built vehicles using hand-held power tools for their motive force. Last year, for example, there were two entries powered by chainsaws. Although it's still fairly new in the UK, power tool drag racing is well-established across the Atlantic, and to add some extra spice to the competition in 2008 a Team USA will be coming over to show (it hopes) the British entrants how things are done. Additional attractions at the event include Dave Wilson's 3000-plus bhp dragster, a SEAT León British Touring Car Championship contender and Drew Langdon's powerboat, which came second in the 2007 P1 World Championship - all of them sponsored by Silverline. There will also be a display of drifting, with all the sideways action and plumes of tyre smoke which that entails.
