(Fri 04 Apr 08) Ford has announced that it will add a third wind turbine to its Dagenham Diesel Centre, subject to planning approval.
Until recently, there have been two Ecotricity wind generators at the Centre, but the addition of an extra engine line (for 1.4- and 1.6-litre TDCi units) has required the addition of a third if Dagenham is to continue taking all its power from the movement of the atmosphere. Ford reckons that the two turbines presently on-site have saved 6500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually since they were installed in 2004. The third is expected to have a capacity of 1.8 megawatts, or enough to provide power for 1000 homes. Previous: Proton Spring Offers Next: SEAT Celebrates Record Month |
