(Fri 11 Apr 08) In the centenary year of the Model T, and the 40th anniversary of the Escort, Ford will be well represented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11-13.
Several examples of the Model T will be on display in the Style et Lux Concours, while an Escort RS1800 will join two current Focus WRC cars on the Rally Stage driven by Bjorn Waldegard, winner of the first World Rally Championship for Drivers in 1979 (pictured). Other Fords at Goodwood will include the Le Mans-winning GT40, a NASCAR Taurus, a seven-litre V8 Galaxie (American, but very popular and successful in UK saloon racing during the 1960s) and an ex-Jim Clark Lotus Cortina. Ford is also pointing out that several of the F1 and sports racers at Goodwood are powered by the Ford-sponsored Cosworth V8 and V10 engines. |
