| Toyota Scores Highly On Ethics | ||
|
(Wed 16 Apr 08) Toyota has figured very strongly in the third annual ethical reputation ranking report devised by Geneva-based research group Covalence.
Covalence rates multinationals on the basis of information found in the media, in civil society and within companies and produces a scoring system called EthicalQuote. It then displays the results in three categories: Reported Performance (good news only, from the first three months of the year), Ethical Progress (good news minus bad news in the same period) and EthicalQuote Score (good minus bad again, but this time from 2002 to March 2008). Toyota was second overall in all categories (beaten only by food producer Unilever in EthicalQuote Score and by American supermarket chain Wal-Mart in the other groups) and was comfortably the top-scoring car manufacturer. General Motors was the only other automotive company to make it into the top ten overall, though within the motoring sector it was beaten into third by Ford on EthicalQuote Score.
