Peugeot has revealed the prices of the new 308 SW, which goes on sale in the UK in June this year.

The range is very similar to that of the 308 hatchback. There's a choice of five petrol and three diesel engines, automatic transmission on selected models, and four trim levels - starting from the bottom, S, SR, Sport and SE.

Of the 18 models available from launch, six do not have direct equivalents in the hatchback range. The remainder cost between £500 and £1400 more than the corresponding hatches, for which you get the potential of seating seven people (though you have to pay extra for the optional third row) and a maximum load volume of 2149 litres.

Prices start at £14,395 for the S 1.4 VTi 95 and extend to £20,845 for the SE with the two-litre turbo diesel engine and automatic transmission. The fastest model is the Sport THP 175, which uses the 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine also found in the 207 GTi and the MINI Cooper S and costs £18,645, while the most economical are the ones using the 1.6 HDi 90 diesel. These come in S and SR trim, costing £15,695 and £16,345 respectively.
