(Wed 23 Apr 08) Peugeot has launched its fourth international design competition, in which entrants are asked to imagine a concept car suitable for "the great urban cities of the future".
To progress in the competition, the designs must satisfy four criteria, named as "environmental friendliness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency". Entries can be submitted between May 30 and July 20; the jury will then select 30 entries for display online, and members of the public can vote for their ten favourites. The jury springs back into action at this point to name the winner, which will be announced at the Paris Show on October 2. This car will then be built both as a 1/43 scale model (by Norev) and as a full-sized version, the latter going on display at the Shanghai Show in April 2009. The winning designer will also receive an Xbox 360 games console and a cheque for €10,000. Full competition details can be found at www.peugeot.com. Last year's winning entry, incidentally, was the Peugeot Flux (pictured above), designed by 20-year old Italian student Mihai Panaitescu.
