(Thu 24 Apr 08) Peugeot chief Jean-Philippe Collin has confirmed at the Lisbon Motor Show that a production version of the RC Z concept car will go on sale in two years' time.
The RC Z was unveiled at the 2007 Frankfurt Show, and Peugeot is promising that the production car will have "all the appeal and excitement" of the concept. The company also says that its specification "will be based on the key features" of the RC Z. No further details have been announced, but what we already know about the RC Z is that it's based on the 308 hatchback, sharing its basic platform, the entire mechanical contents of the front end and the rear suspension. The engine - which may or may not be transferred to the production car - is the 1.6-litre turbo petrol unit also found in other Peugeots (most notably the 207 GTi THP 175) and the MINI Cooper S, but modified in this application to produce 218bhp. The production car will make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Show next year, and will go on sale in spring 2010.
