(Mon 11 Aug 08) Fiat has just launched a new version of the Panda to the UK market. It's called the Panda Cross, and as you can see from the picture it looks quite different from other models in the range thanks to its round light units, side protection panels, revised bumpers and chunky 15" alloy wheels.
The Panda Cross uses the excellent 1.3-litre MultiJet turbo diesel engine and a permanent four-wheel drive system with an electronic differential lock for really tough off-road conditions. On tarmac, the Panda Cross has an official combined fuel economy figure of 54.3mpg, equating to CO2 emissions of 136g/km. It costs £11,995, which makes it the cheapest diesel 4x4 on the market.
