(Mon 18 Aug 08) The 2009 model year Peugeot 407 will be launched in the UK next month with a new look, a new trim level and a new engine.
The new look includes a revised front grille treatment which slightly softens the characteristic "wide-mouthed frog" look, plus a diffuser-style number plate surround on the rear bumper. More upmarket models also get piano black finish on the interior doorhandles, air vent surrounds and centre console. The new trim level is called SR, and it slots in above S but below SE and GT. In addition to what Peugeot provides with the S, the SR gets 16" alloy wheels, Smartnav satellite navigation and a Bluetooth hands-free phone kit. The SE and GT both come with front and rear parking sensors and the new RT5 satnav/phone/MP3 storage, while the GT full leather upholstery, range-topping alloys and heated front seats. As for the new engine, this is a diesel which replaces the previous HDi 136. Known as the HDi 140, this one gives the 407 saloon an official CO2 figure of 150g/km, resulting in annual car tax payments of £120, while the combined fuel economy is 49.5mpg. It's available in all 407s except the GT. Prices now start at £17,295 for the HDi 110 S saloon. Peugeot Gallery Previous: Renault Revises Clio Next: Nissan Qashqai+2 Prices |
