(Wed 27 Aug 08) Skoda is very pleased with itself these days after the announcement of the official insurance ratings for the new Superb.
The big news comes at the lower end of the range. The entry-level car, with S trim and a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine, has been placed in Group 6, three below the cheapest of the old Superbs, while the 125bhp 1.4 turbo petrol model is in Group 7 regardless of trim level, which is again lower than the most basic petrol car in the old range. The new Superb goes on sale in the UK on September 18, priced from £15,490, and you'll be able to read our impressions of it well before then.
