(Thu 04 Dec 08) Jaguar has reworked the XJ luxury saloon range, adding more equipment as standard and renaming the range-topping model.
The range now consists of three cars, two of which have the 2.7-litre turbo diesel engine which impressed us so much during a road test. The entry model is the XJ Executive Diesel which costs £44,599 and has satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors, bi-xenon headlights and bright mesh lower grille and side vents. One step up from this is the XJ Sovereign Diesel. Standard equipment includes 20" wheels, soft grain leather heated and cooled seats, leatherette instrument panel and grab handles and lamb's wool rugs, and the price is £50,472. The Sport Premium specification has been dropped, and the performance model is now called the XJ Super V8. This uses the familiar 4.2-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine, and costs £57,760.
