| Porsche And The Congestion Charge Again | ||

(Fri 22 Feb 08) In the same week that it announced its decision to challenge Ken Livingstone's revised price structure for the London congestion charge (see previous story), Porsche Cars GB has launched a second attack.
The issue this time is how the predicted reductions in annual emissions as a result of the new charge compare to the amount of CO2 produced by Heathrow Airport. This depends on which prediction you go with, but Porsche's figures suggest that the predictions equate to what Heathrow pumps out in a period of between four minutes and four hours. That's if the predictions are right. Porsche also points out that, according to some sources, congestion within the London zone could actually increase once cars with official CO2 emission ratings of less than 120g/km can get in without being subject to any charge at all. Back to the legalities: Porsche has created a new website to make its case, and to encourage drivers to add their names to a petition against the charge. It can be found at www.porschejudicialreview.co.uk. Porsche Gallery Previous: Biofuel Impact Study Next: BMW Develops EfficientDynamics |
