(Fri 04 Jan 08) Citroen has given its massive C8 MPV a new engine and a mild facelift for 2008. The engine is a 173bhp 2.2-litre HDi turbo diesel which is available in SX and Exclusive models, and gives the C8 a top speed of 122mph and 0-62mph in 11.7 seconds.
The restyle involves bringing the front end more in line with other Citroen products, and there's more exterior chrome trim than before. The proportion of chrome in the interior has increased too, and there are higher-quality materials and soft-touch finishes. Some equipment revision has also gone on. LX models now have an MP3-compatible audio system, the SX gets new seat trims, leather steering wheel and gearknob and cruise control with speed limiter, while the Exclusive comes with 16" Ispahan alloy wheels, leather seats, front and rear parking sensors and darked tinted rear and side windows. In its new form, the C8 is already on sale in mainland Europe, but it won't be available here for another month or so, and specification details have not yet been confirmed - Citroen UK is, for example, evaluating the possibility of using automatic transmission with the 2.2 HDi. Prices still have to be settled too, but it's likely that a 2.2 HDi will cost around £1500 more than a 2.0 HDi with similar equipment. |
