(Thu 10 Jan 08) Auction company BCA reports that it has sold three as-new MG Rover models on behalf of retail group Inchcape at its Blackbushe venue.
The most valuable was a Rover 75 V8, which was unusual in the range in that it had a 256bhp 4.6-litre Ford Mustang driving the rear wheels. It sold for £16,000, or around half its original value. A long-wheelbase 75 Limousine went for £13,400, while a high-performance MG TF 160 fetched £11,000. All three cars were on 57 plates, meaning they were three of the 200 MG/Rovers registered in 2007, though they had all been in storage since the company collapsed in 2005. "These three cars generated a huge amount of interest with MG and Rover enthusiasts and collectors from the UK and overseas," says BCA's Blackbushe Manager James Gibson. "Sales such as this underline just how evocative the Rover and MG brands have become in a relatively short time." |
