Until now the recently-introduced Mazda2 has been available only in five-door form, but a three-door version will be officially unveiled at the Geneva Show in March.

Full details have not yet been announced, but it's fair to assume that the five-door's line-up of TS, TS2 and Sport models will be repeated. What's certain is that the existing 1.3- and 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre turbo diesel engines (the last of these due to appear in the UK in March) will all be used in the three-door.

Geneva will also mark the European debuts of Mazda's Taiki concept car, the Mazda5 Hydrogen RE hybrid and the revised RX-8 coupé.
