(Wed 23 Jan 08) As promised, Fiat gave the new 500 a resounding introduction to the UK market in a party in London on Monday night.
Around 2000 people turned up, among them such well-known names as Kelly Osbourne, Jade Jagger, Eva Herzigova, Eddie Jordan, Leah Wood and Lawrence Dallaglio, while Mika, The Feeling and The Vibrants played soothing string quartet music in the background. Five hundred hours into 2008, at 8pm, a 500 was sent on what will eventually be a two-week trip in one of the British Airways London Eye capsules. Fiat calculates that it will travel a total of 84 miles, which must be a record of some sort. While it's doing that, members of the public will have the chance to win a 500 in an interactive competition being staged at the London Eye until February 3. |
