(Fri 25 Jan 08) Knutsford-based car dealership Mangoletsi has celebrated 40 years of selling Alfa Romeos by creating its own version of the GT.
Called the Monza, it's a standard 1.9-litre JTDm turbo diesel in all but one respect: Dealer Expert Technician John Greatorex has spent nearly a year developing a "scissor" door opening mechanism which, when the car is stationary and the doors open, make the GT look like it's about to take off. "We have seen the door system on other cars," says Greatorex, "and wanted to do something unusual to celebrate Mangoleti's 40th anniversary. "It has taken a long time to get the car exactly how we wanted it. The specification of the car has been left standard so whoever buys it can do it up as much as they want. It's a truly exclusive car so it will no doubt be bought by an Alfa fan who wants a one-off." The Monza is now on display in Mangoletsi's showroom at London Road, Allostock, and it can be yours for £24,990 in its current form. Alternatively, Mangoletsi will tune it up for you if you're willing to pay for some extra performance. |
