Citroen C4 Upgrade

(Wed 09 Jul 08)

Citroen has announced that a revised version of the C4 will go on sale later this year. The most obvious differences are at the front end, where the C4 will gain a closer resemblance to the recently-introduced, and very handsome, C5.

Citroen C4 59.

There are some interior changes too, with new trim and upholstery and a shifting of the revcounter to the central display panel (the idea here being to have all the driving information in the same place). Citroen is also introducing its new MyWay system, consisting of Europe-wide satellite navigation, a high-resolution 7" colour screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and an audio system with a built-in 10GB hard drive.

The engine line-up remains broadly the same as before, except that the current 1.6- and two-litre petrol engines are being replaced by new units co-developed by PSA Peugeot Citroen and the BMW Group. There's a naturally-aspirated 120bhp 1.6-litre VTi unit with variable valve lift, timing and fuel injection, and a similar-sized but turbocharged unit developing 150bhp.

Prices will be announced nearer the launch date.
