(Wed 09 Jul 08) Peugeot is fluttering its eyelashes at the business market with the introduction of the 308 SR. Based on the S, the SR has £1175 worth of extra equipment (in the form of satellite navigation, a Bluetooth hands-free phone kit and 16" alloy wheels) but costs just £600 more.
To begin with, buyers of the five-door hatchback will have a choice of HDi 90 and HDi 110 turbo diesel engines, the latter available with a six-speed electronically-controlled gearbox (EGC) in addition to the standard manual; there are also SW estate versions with the same engines but manual transmission only. In September, the hatchback range will expand to the tune of one extra model fitted with a Bioflex engine which can run either on normal unleaded petrol or on E85, a mix of 85% bioethanol and 15% petrol. For best fuel economy you'll want either the HDi 90 or the EGC-fitted HDi 110, both of which manage 62.7mpg on the combined cycle and have CO2 emissions of 120g/km. Prices start at £15,845 for the HDi 90 hatchback and extend to £17,245 for the HDi 100 SW. All versions can be bought through Peugeot Contract Hire, with monthly rentals starting from £215. |
