(Wed 09 Jul 08) You can see why this was a deal worth continuing: Kia has announced that its association with global brand ambassador Rafael Nadal, who beat Roger Federer to the Wimbledon Men's Singles title in what has been described as the greatest tennis match ever played, has been extended for another three years.
Nadal will therefore continue to feature in Kia's worldwide print and television advertising campaigns, and to represent the company at major motor shows. "We are extremely happy to extend this partnership with Mr Nadal," says Kia's Hyoung-Keun Lee, "as his continued growth, dynamic spirit and dedication to his craft ties in directly with the vision we have for Kia Motors." "I am proud to be able to continue this relationship with Kia Motors," adds Nadal, "as I believe in creating long-lasting relationships. I have been supported by the company for a number of years already, and am happy to be able to grow both with the company and as a professional athlete for many more years to come." Kia certainly sees the value of being involved in major sporting events, particularly those involving tennis; it has extended its partnership with the Australian Open until 2013, and is also a sponsor of the Davis Cup. In football, Kia recently sponsored Euro 2008 and is an official automotive partner of FIFA, and it is also the title sponsor of X-Games Asia.
