(Wed 16 Jul 08) For the first time, the Guinness Book of Records has recognised a claim for the largest parade of Mitsubishi Evos.
Anyone who wants to break the record will have to gather together more than 273 of these cars, because that's the number that drove together at a constant speed for two miles (the Guinness people's definition of a parade) at Castle Combe race circuit in Wiltshire after considerable organisational effort on the part of both Mitsubishi UK and the Mitsubishi Lancer Register. There were a couple of very nice touches. First, the cars were grouped together according to colour, which must have taken some doing. Second, and more importantly, the event raised £7459.27 for the Richard Burns Foundation, created in memory of the 2001 World Rally Champion, who died of a brain tumour at the age of 34, four years to the day after securing the World title. More information on the charity can be found at www.richardburnsfoundation.com, and if you're a Lancer fan you may also be interested in paying a visit to www.lancerregister.com. |
