(Tue 22 Jul 08) As promised, Vauxhall has used the British International Motor Show to reveal the price of the new Insignia, which is about to replace the Vectra as the company's medium-sized family car.
The entry-level car, the 1.8 Exclusiv, costs £15,935, which is less than £500 more than the equivalent five-door Vectra. The amount of standard equipment is quite impressive for a base model, and includes ESP, automatic headlights, a height-adjustable driver's seat with four-way lumbar support adjustment, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control and Isofix child seat fittings. That car uses Vauxhall's 1.8-litre petrol engine in 138bhp form. All the other engines in the Insignia range are turbocharged: a 2.0 petrol, a 2.8 petrol V6 and a two-litre diesel producing either 128bhp and 158bhp. The cheapest diesel model is the 128bhp Exclusiv, which costs £16,935. |
