New Honda Jazz

(Thu 31 Jul 08)

Having been sold in Japan as the Fit since October last year, the new Honda Jazz will come within reach of UK customers this autumn.

Honda Jazz 11.

As previously reported, it's larger than the version introduced back in 2002, and Honda is promising greater interior space (this car is slightly larger than the old one) and better visibility (which seems to be confirmed by the unusually sensible window design).

The Jazz will be sold here with a choice of 89bhp 1.2-litre and 99bhp 1.4-litre petrol engines. Official combined fuel economy and CO2 figures for the 1.2 are 55.4mpg and 120g/km, while the faster 1.4 manages 54.3mpg and 123g/km. These numbers assume normal manual transmission, but the 1.4 has the option of a six-speed i-SHIFT automated manual which brings the economy and CO2 stats in line with those of the 1.2.

The 1.4 also comes as standard with a flexible Double Trunk luggage compartment which can be configured in four ways. With Double Trunk, the Jazz has a load capacity of 399 litres when the rear seats are in place - and if you need more room those seats can be folded flat in one move to save time and effort.

UK prices have yet to be confirmed but this will no doubt happen in the near future.
