(Mon 09 Jun 08) Bentley has revealed the details of the 2009 model year Continental Flying Spur and the launch of a new and more powerful variant.
The standard Flying Spur gets some mild tweaking of the front and rear styling, new tyres and revised suspension for improved ride quality and more sound-deadening (including a development of the acoustic glass which has been available since the car was introduced in 2005). The list of optional extras has also been expanded and includes adaptive cruise control and an audio system - with an 1100W amplifier, the most powerful fitted to any production car - developed by UK hi-fi company Naim. If the 552bhp produced by the standard Flying Spur's twin-turbo six-litre V12 engine isn't enough for you, you might be interested in the Flying Spur Speed. This uses the same basic engine, but it has been uprated to a maximum of 600bhp, which gives the car a top speed of 200mph and a 0-62mph time of 4.8 seconds (that's 5mph and 0.4 seconds quicker than the standard model).
The Flying Spur Speed therefore becomes the most powerful four-door production car in Bentley's history. Further improvements to the suspension and the fitment of Pirelli PZero tyres on 20" wheels have been introduced to cope with the extra urge.
