(Tue 10 Jun 08) The second model in Peugeot's range of Tepee vehicles (after the Expert we road tested last year) is the Partner Tepee which goes on sale in the UK this month.
It's based on the new Partner van, which in turn uses the same platform as the 308 hatchback. Compared with the Partner Combi it replaces, the Tepee is slightly longer and wider, though not as tall, and it has a greater load volume, with 642 litres available when all the seats are in place and 3000 litres when all but two of them are folded. There's a choice of five 1.6-litre engines, two petrol (producing 90bhp and 100bhp) and three HDi turbo diesel (75bhp, 90bhp and 110bhp), and three trim levels called Urban, S and Outdoor. Prices range from £11,215 for the Urban 1.6 90bhp petrol to £15,305 for the Outdoor 1.6 110bhp HDi. Oddly enough, the most powerful engine is also the one with the best official fuel economy - the 1.6 HDi 110 manages 50.4mpg on the combined cycle. Like the other diesels it's in VED Band C and will therefore cost £120 to tax for the next two years, rising to £125 in 2010. The cheaper petrol models are in Band F, rising to Band J in the new pricing structure to be introduced next year, so taxing those will cost £210 now, £260 from April 2009 and £270 from April 2010.
