The second-generation Citroen Berlingo Multispace is going on sale at prices starting from £10,995.

The Berlingo is effectively the same vehicle as the Peugeot Partner Tepee which is emerging from the PSA Peugeot Citroen stable at the same time. It's an MPV based on the new Berlingo van and is built on PSA's medium-sized family car platform which is also the basis of the C4 Picasso.

There's more luggage space than there was inside the old Berlingo Multispace - 675 litres up to the level of the parcel shelf when the rear seats are in place, 3000 litres (and a two-metre load length) when they're removed. The Modutop roof storage space has also been redesigned to take into account the new vehicle's extra height.

Five 1.6-litre engines will be available from launch - 75bhp, 90bhp and 110bhp diesel, 90bhp and 110bhp petrol - and there are three trim levels called VT, VTR and XTR. List prices are lower than for the equivalent Peugeots, ranging from £10,995 for the 90bhp 1.6 petrol VT to £14,625 for the 110bhp 1.6 HDi XTR diesel, though you can invest more heavily by taking advantage of the many optional extras.
