(Fri 13 Jun 08) Cadillac is quoting some impressive figures for the 2009 model year CTS-V saloon, which is nearing the end of its development testing programme.
The CTS-V's supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine has been certified as producing a maximum of 556bhp, and Cadillac is claiming a 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds (so just over four seconds for the European standard 0-62mph test) and a standing quarter-mile time of 12 seconds with a terminal speed of 118mph. According to Cadillac, "These acceleration times are believed to be the fastest for any V-8-powered sedan currently in production." It's not all about straightline performance, though. As reported previously, a CTS-V recently went round the Nürburgring race circuit in just under eight minutes, which Cadillac believes to be the fastest recorded time for a production-ready saloon car on standard tyres.
