The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Titanium estate has been named as Britain's top towcar of 2008 by judges from the Camping and Caravanning Club and What Car? and Practical Caravan magazines.

The Mondeo was voted as number one in its kerbweight category (1575-1724kg) and also first overall after a series of tests based on stability, hill starts, performance and practicality. Other class winners were the Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Titanium, the Volkswagen Golf 2.0 TDI SE estate, the Jaguar XJ 2.7 TDVi Sport Premium and the Land Rovery Discovery TDV6 HSE automatic.

Four more cars were Highly Recommended in another set of categories unrelated to vehicle weights: the Peugeot 207 SW HDi 110 (Green), the Ford C-MAX (Budget Choice), the Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi Titan (Best Compact 4x4) and the Audi Q7 4.2 TDI quattro S line (Money No Object).
