New SEAT Leóns

(Thu 19 Jun 08)

Although most of SEAT's attention is devoted at the moment to the new Ibiza, the Spanish company isn't ignoring the rest of its line-up.

SEAT León 77 - Sport.

For example, there are two new Leóns to consider. One is the Sport (pictured), which is based on the Stylance but also has air-conditioning, 17" alloy wheels, sports seats and sports suspension, along with a choice of 123bhp 1.4-litre TSI turbo petrol and 138bhp 2.0 TDI turbo diesel engines. Prices are £14,795 for the 1.4 TSI and £16,995 for the 2.0 TDI, and you can have the TDI with the DSG semi-automatic transmission for an extra £1000.

Further down the León range comes the Emoción. This one is a bit like the entry-level Reference except that it also has 16" alloy wheels, front foglights and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. List prices are £13,250 for the 101bhp 1.6-litre petrol and £14,350 for the 104bhp 1.9 TDI turbo diesel.

SEAT has also extended the availability of its rear seat entertainment system, previously offered only in the Altea Freetrack 4, to the rest of the Altea range. For an extra £300 you get a 7" roof-mounted screen with a connection for hooking up iPods, portable DVD players, games consoles or whatever.

Lastly, the range-topping Alhambra Stylance MPV can now be ordered with leather/alcantara upholstery on all seven seats for an extra £2185. And while we're on the subject of money, SEAT is revising most of its prices as from July 1; the average increase is slightly over 1%, though some models are actually cheaper than before.
