(Thu 19 Jun 08) The latest version of the Toyota Hilux is set to become the most powerful pickup in the UK when it goes on sale on July 1.
The Invincible 200 Double Cab uses the same three-litre turbo diesel engine found elsewhere in the Hilux range, but in this case it's fitted with a Toyota Motor Sport performance kit which boosts power from the standard 169bhp to a sector-leading 194bhp. Performance improves as a result, of course, but according to the official EU tests there is no difference in fuel consumption, which remains at 34.0mpg for the manual and 30.1mpg for the automatic (though you can expect to get through a lot more diesel if you experience the greater power on a regular basis). The 200 also has its own specification which includes two-tone leather upholstery, heated front seats, a steel mesh front grille and black metallic paint. Prices start at £21,540, and just 500 examples will be sold. Toyota Gallery Previous: The Vauxhall That Sees For Itself Next: Towing Award For Ford Mondeo |
